Software Development Lead Architect

As a Senior Application Developer, your role will involve contributing to the architectural design and direction of the technical infrastructure. You will be responsible for researching, evaluating, and recommending alternative solutions. Your key responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining application code. You will also be writing unit/integration tests and overseeing integrations with internal systems and 3rd party services. Ensuring performance, security, accessibility, and responsive design best practices are followed will be crucial. Collecting and analyzing metrics to drive implementation decisions, designing, improving, and documenting processes, as well as coaching, mentoring, and leading engineers with architecture and development tasks will be part of your day-to-day activities. Supporting your team through encouragement and by example, mentoring and sharing knowledge within the team and across the department, and delivering on personal and team deadlines and goals are essential aspects of your role. Qualifications required for this position include a Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or other related fields, along with 10-14 years of professional experience in application development. You should have a strong understanding of both functional and object-oriented programming paradigms, as well as SOLID design principles. A desire to innovate and discover new technologies, comfort in working with multiple programming languages simultaneously, and experience in the development and troubleshooting of complex SQL are necessary. Additionally, familiarity with REST principles, Agile development methodologies, strong communications and presentation skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment or as an independent contributor are expected. Being driven to continually learn and master new skills is a valuable trait for this role. Preferred skills and experiences for this position include extensive experience in web development using modern frontend and backend technologies. Strong proficiency in frontend technologies such as React and NextJS, as well as backend technologies like Python, Go, and Java, is desired. Experience acting as the tech lead within a team, proficiency in AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudFormation, ECS/EKS, VPC, and IAM, familiarity with security best practices in cloud environments (e.g., Auth0), experience with caching and in-memory database technologies, and working with responsive design frameworks are advantageous. Additionally, experience with asynchronous/multi-threaded programming patterns, performance tuning for high-traffic portals, and AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are beneficial. You will be required to work in a hybrid model for this role and report to the Technology Director at GCC.
