Role Overview:

As a Software Development Engineering Manager at Medtronic, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of software development, test, and SRE engineers. Your responsibilities will involve delivering services to all divisions across Medtronic to support software development and containerization/Kubernetes enablement work. In addition to leading the team, you will also actively participate in designing, developing, and shipping production code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a technical team consisting of full-stack software engineers, DevOps engineers, SREs, and test engineers, providing mentorship and guidance in product development and career growth
  • Take ownership of software development, testing, and SRE engineering, delivering best-in-class CI/CD DevSecOps pipelines, cloud, container, and Kubernetes provisioning and management
  • Collaborate with domain experts and key functional partners to deliver innovative services for business needs
  • Work closely with Security, Infrastructure, Quality, and other critical teams to build unified services integrating standardized methodologies
  • Manage technology vendors, introduce solutions meeting business objectives, and drive POCs for new end-to-end solutions
  • Define and communicate the technical vision/roadmap to all teams and divisions
  • Enhance team SDLC processes, continuous delivery, automated testing, and justify new services
  • Foster a culture of high-quality engineering practices, continuous learning, and collaboration
  • Provide leadership and expertise in DevSecOps, monitoring, and cloud management platforms
  • Communicate effectively with clients, technical staff, and managers across multiple business units and technical teams

Qualifications:

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years of managerial experience with goal setting and performance management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to think innovatively and create an inspiring team environment
  • Experience in building and leading software development teams
  • Proficiency in system design, architecture, and agile development
  • Strong people management skills and passion for mentorship
  • Deep knowledge of software development, build processes, and various programming languages
  • Experience in designing and delivering production cloud solutions and operational management practices

Nice to Have:

  • Success in collaborating with multi-functional teams to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of security, risk, compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, and high availability architectures
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under uncertainty
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI/ML
