Job Description
Role Overview:
As a Manufacturing Engineer, NPI, you will play a crucial role as the interface between product development, project management, and the production facility. Your primary responsibility will be to transform a new product into a stable production-ready series product. This involves defining tools and process strategies in collaboration with stakeholders and the R&D management team. Your focus will be on ensuring on-time production of prototypes, pre-series, and series start-ups, while achieving cost-effective manufacturing solutions and maintaining the highest quality standards for the product and its manufacturing processes. You will also be tasked with resolving production-related issues and supporting the supplier approval process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan the process, equipment, and documentation required for production activities of healthcare assemblies, including validation of the product process.
- Ensure on-time production of prototypes, pre-series, and series start-ups.
- Achieve the most cost-effective manufacturing solution (Design to Cost) while ensuring high quality for the product and its manufacturing processes (Design to Manufacturing).
- Address issues occurring in production related to processes and assembled parts.
- Support the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety, and Environmental risks.
- Conduct on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions for supplier quality issues.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement, and identify value enhancement opportunities.
- Assist with first off sample approvals of parts from vendors.
- Participate in cross-functional teams for the development of new products or changes related to current products to meet customer requirements.
- Work with Global Business Line R&D to develop and support processes at BLR and facilitate the supply of parts/commodities across manufacturing locations.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
- Act as a liaison between the company's senior management and vendors to identify quality issues and propose solutions.
- Develop strong, ethical relationships with suppliers based on good business practices.
Qualification Required:
- Successfully completed a university degree with a technical background (mechanical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, etc.) and have at least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience with process and engineering principles of X-ray imaging systems, Healthcare equipment, and associated testing setups and troubleshooting is desired.
- Excellent statistical analysis skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders for optimal performance.
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience in dealing with international projects with technical content.
- Familiarity with leading project teams due to knowledge of project management. Role Overview:
