Staff Database Reliability Engineer

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) specializing in DBaaS (Database-as-a-Service) support, your role will involve utilizing your expertise in database administration, cloud infrastructure, scripting, automation, networking, and troubleshooting to ensure the reliability and performance of databases across multiple cloud platforms. **Role Overview:** You will be responsible for managing database platforms on various cloud environments, implementing best practices for database administration, performance tuning, disaster recovery planning, and automation. Your focus will be on maintaining high availability, scalability, and security of databases to meet service level objectives. **Key Responsibilities:** - Perform Database Administration tasks for primary (PostgreSQL) and secondary databases (MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server). - Implement database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability. - Optimize database performance through query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting. - Manage database security including user access control, roles, and auditing. - Deploy and manage databases on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP using Infrastructure as Code tools. - Utilize Kubernetes for running databases in containers and ensure high availability. - Set up monitoring and alerting systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog. - Implement disaster recovery solutions and automate database deployment and scaling processes. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams for incident management, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting complex database issues. - Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures. **Qualifications Required:** - 8-10+ years of experience in DBA/Platform Engineering with robust multi-cloud experience (Azure/AWS/GCP). - Deep expertise in high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning. - Proficiency in automation tools such as Terraform, scripting languages like Python, and CI/CD pipelines. - Experience working in SaaS/DBaaS environments is preferred. - Strong understanding of networking basics, storage management, and Linux OS (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS). - Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
