Role Overview:
As a Database Engineer at TMUS Global Solutions, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database systems that support T-Mobile's large-scale applications and analytics. Your responsibilities will include driving the modernization of database platforms, adopting cloud-native data technologies, and continuously improving performance, reliability, and automation across mission-critical systems. You will collaborate with software engineers, cloud architects, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance database solutions aligned with both business and technical objectives. This role requires a combination of strong database engineering expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on technical execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and provide enterprise-grade database architectures for transactional and analytical workloads.
- Support and automate database provisioning, schema management, patching, config management, and upgrades through CI/CD pipelines for both on-prem and cloud-native databases.
- Assist in supporting various cloud database platforms such as AWS (RDS MySQL/PostgreSQL, Aurora MySQL/PostgreSQL) and Azure (PostgreSQL and MySQL Database, Managed instances).
- Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting for database performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and backup/recovery standards.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to deliver integrated data solutions.
- Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of complex database issues.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of experience in database engineering, development, or administration.
- Expertise in PostgreSQL database full Lifecycle support.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, indexing, replication, sharding, and partitioning.
- Hands-on experience with cloud database services (AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, bash), DevOps, Ansible for automation and integration.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Proven ability to tune queries and design performance-scalable data architectures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
