Software Engineering Manager

As a Software Engineering Manager at Medtronic, you will lead the Platform & Embedded Software functional area by managing a team of engineers to drive growth and success. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading a team that designs and develops Platform & Embedded Software
• Representing your team within the wider software organization
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams in the R&D organization
• Establishing sustainable processes for product development
• Driving best practices and innovation within your functional area
• Removing barriers for the team
• Participating in design reviews
• Mentoring and coaching team members
• Implementing process and quality improvements

Qualifications required for this role include:

• Bachelors or masters degree in engineering with a minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience
• Managing a cross-functional engineering team of 20 or more
• Experience in software development processes such as Agile and waterfall methodology
• Leadership experience in platform software development in regulated industries
• Proficiency in software development tools and IDEs
• Familiarity with operating systems like Windows, QNX, and Linux
• Strong understanding of design patterns and SDLC processes
• Experience in test-driven development and unit testing
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum/SAFe practices
• Ability to distill software requirements from system requirements
• Experience with communication protocols and network troubleshooting
• Proficiency in debugging and root cause analysis techniques
• Experience in risk management analysis of software
• Background in surgical robotics is a plus
