Senior Web Application Engineer

As a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer at VIP (Vermont Information Processing, Inc.), your role involves being a key contributor to the development and maintenance of web applications using Ruby on Rails. You will leverage your expertise to build scalable, robust, and maintainable solutions. Your responsibilities include: - Designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications following MVC architecture and best practices - Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented Ruby code - Developing and maintaining RESTful APIs for seamless data exchange - Implementing and managing database interactions for efficient data retrieval and storage - Utilizing existing gems and libraries, and creating custom gems as needed - Implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms - Writing efficient database queries and optimizing performance - Optimizing application performance for scalability and responsiveness - Ensuring the security and stability of the application - Implementing caching strategies where appropriate - Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and migrating in Ruby on Rails with Angular - Proactively identifying areas for improvement in development processes - Participating in knowledge sharing and training sessions Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor of Engineering / Technology with specialization in Information Technology or Computer Science or MCA - Experience: 3-4 years of professional Ruby on Rails development experience - Proven experience in designing and developing scalable and high-performance web applications using Ruby on Rails - Experience with agile development methodologies Mandatory Skills Set: - JavaScript, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and PostgreSQL - Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and the Ruby programming language - Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) - Experience with version control systems (Git) - Experience with RESTful API design and development Nice to Have skill set: - Node.Js, Ember CLI, Bower, Sidekiq with redis (for background jobs), Carrier Wave + AWS (fog-aws) for file management - Familiarity with Jira preferred Soft Skills: - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills - Strong communication and collaboration skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Ability to adapt to changing priorities and technologies - Strong attention to detail As a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer at VIP (Vermont Information Processing, Inc.), your role involves being a key contributor to the development and maintenance of web applications using Ruby on Rails.
