Senior Performance Tester

Role Overview: As a Senior Performance Test Engineer at Inchcape Shipping Services, you will play a crucial role in managing end-to-end performance test cycles to ensure the speed, scalability, and reliability of software applications according to varying business needs. Your responsibilities will include leading performance testing efforts, analyzing outcomes, making tuning recommendations, and collaborating effectively with development, architecture, and operations teams. Key Responsibilities: - Manage end-to-end performance test cycles, including requirement gathering, automating test cases, executing tests, analyzing outcomes, and communicating results until the expected outcome is achieved. - Drive performance and stability improvements of applications and infrastructure to enhance the end-user experience. - Set up performance test strategy and analyze performance workloads on production infrastructure, benchmarking test outputs, and providing continuous recommendations for application performance enhancements. - Design and plan performance and scalability tests for front-end and back-end applications, covering technologies such as SOAP/REST APIs and web services. - Identify and evaluate new technologies for successful integration into the existing environment. - Collaborate with key stakeholders on infrastructure design, specifications, and implementing performance improvement solutions. - Work on multiple projects, manage priorities based on business needs, and take ownership of task completion. - Generate comprehensive performance test reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders, articulating risks and recommendations clearly. - Analyze test results to identify performance bottlenecks within application code, database queries, server configuration, and infrastructure. - Utilize test automation tools like JMeter and possess strong scripting/programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript. - Monitor and collect detailed performance metrics across the application stack and troubleshoot using APM tools. - Demonstrate proficiency in JVM performance tuning, optimization, and log aggregation tools like Splunk/ELK/Sumo Logic/Grey Log. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration using tools like Jenkins. Qualifications Required: - Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in performance testing and engineering. - Knowledge of the shipping domain is a plus. - Experience in requirements gathering, deriving test strategy, and creating baselines, workload models, and task distribution. - Strong technical knowledge in Operating System, RDBMS, SQL, and web applications testing. - Proficiency in tools such as JMeter, Load Runner, Selenium, and APM tools. - Ability to quickly understand business processes and work with agile product management tools.
