Job Description
As a highly skilled and experienced Senior PCB Design Engineer, your role will involve working on cutting-edge projects for major clients, designing multi-layer PCBs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that designs meet rigorous performance standards. You should have 4 to 20 years of experience in HDI, high-speed, and RF PCB design, with expertise in complex signal integrity analysis, FPGA-based designs, and working with global PCB vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop complex HDI, high-speed, RF, and mixed-signal PCBs (up to 34 layers), ensuring efficient routing of signals, including 224 Gbps lines, RFSoC, LPDDR5, and PCIe-based boards.
- Experience with technologies like DDRx, PCIe, USB 2.0/3.0, Ethernet, HDMI, WLAN, and RF components.
- Design power supply circuits (up to 300 Amps) and high-density components such as 0.35mm pitch BGA and ALIVH technology.
Signal Integrity & Timing Analysis:
- Collaborate with SI engineers for via launches, breakouts, and routing topologies driven by signal integrity analysis.
- Perform timing analysis, PDN, and signal integrity analysis for high-speed designs.
- Experience in handling components like LPDDR5 and 28 Gbps SerDes signals.
Project Management & Leadership:
- Lead PCB design projects, working with cross-functional teams globally for optimal board layout and placement.
- Act as the main point of contact for PCB vendors and assembly houses, ensuring designs meet DFM/DFA requirements and quality standards.
Database Management & Library Development:
- Manage global component libraries, create and implement footprints and symbols, and ensure correct integration into CIS and Altium databases.
- Develop and maintain SQL/MS Access database systems for library management.
- Experience with SVN servers and version control.
Design & Manufacturing Collaboration:
- Work closely with global PCB fab and assembly vendors to resolve design and manufacturing issues ensuring efficient collaboration and smooth project delivery.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Generate and review design documentation, including requirements, guidelines, and PCB vendor documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, including IPC-7351, IPC-2221, and EMC/EMI regulations.
Expert Tools Usage:
- Proficient in using PCB design tools like Cadence Allegro, Altium, and PADS.
- Experienced in schematic design tools like OrCAD and Design Entry HDL.
- Familiar with simulation and analysis tools such as HyperLynx SI/PI and Valor NPI.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience (up to 20 years preferred) in PCB design with a focus on HDI, high-speed, RF, and mixed-signal designs.
- Expertise in FPGA-based designs using Xilinx FPGAs, Intel Ice Lake, Tiger Lake, and RF SoC-based boards.
- Proven track record of leading complex PCB design projects and coordinating with global teams.
- Solid understanding of signal integrity, power distribution network (PDN) analysis, and timing analysis.
- Strong knowledge of PCB design standards (IPC-7351, IPC-2221) and familiarity with DFM, DFT, and DFA processes.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools like Agile, Enovia PLM, and version control systems (e.g., SVN).
- Ability to mentor junior team members and foster collaboration across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IPC-CID (Certified Interconnect Design) certification or equivalent.
- Experience working with advanced technologies like 5G, LPDDR5, PCIe, and RFSoC.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC standards and testing procedures.
- Knowledge of mechanical design collaboration and generating IDF files for MCAD/ECAD integration.
- Experience in high-performance designs for major clients like Intel, AMD, Nokia, and Google.
