Job Description
As a Principal Engineer specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure, your role involves providing technical leadership for complex engineering projects. You will be responsible for guiding projects from concept to construction, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and high-quality engineering outcomes. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as Lead Design Engineer, overseeing projects from inception to completion
- Defining and validating technical requirements in line with project objectives
- Leading technical workstreams within multidisciplinary teams
- Providing civil engineering input for various aspects such as asset surveys, feasibility studies, and preliminary designs
- Supporting the design of pumping stations, pipelines, rising mains, and hydraulic systems
- Offering technical sign-off and assurance throughout project delivery
- Ensuring adherence to engineering and regulatory standards
- Mentoring and providing support to junior engineers
To excel in this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Extensive experience in water infrastructure engineering, including Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), Water Treatment Plants (WTP), clean water distribution systems, pumping stations, rising mains, storm overflow/Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) systems, and drainage and sewer network integration
- A strong understanding of plant hydraulics
- Familiarity with hydraulic modeling tools, with exposure to HADES or similar software being preferred
- Membership in ICE/CIWEM is considered an advantage
