Job Description
Role Overview:
As a Level 2 Network Engineer in the Operations Team, your primary responsibility is to oversee advanced network monitoring and optimization, perform complex troubleshooting and incident resolution, manage network configuration and implementation, ensure security and compliance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, document and report network activities, make strategic contributions, and handle disaster recovery and backup processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee network performance across various environments such as Cisco Meraki, FortiGate, Cisco, public cloud net ops, Cisco ISE, and SD-WAN, ensuring uptime and optimal configurations.
- Manage Cisco ACI and Nexus environments to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve network performance bottlenecks, recommending enhancements.
- Monitor and maintain network health, proactively identifying and resolving issues related to ACI, Nexus switches, and routing.
- Act as the escalation point for Level 1 engineers, resolving advanced incidents related to firewalls, DNS, Zscaler, SD-WAN, and load balancers.
- Diagnose and resolve network-related application issues, including advanced routing, VPNs, and traffic shaping problems.
- Configure and troubleshoot BGP and OSPF routing protocols within the network infrastructure.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
- Design and implement advanced configurations for firewalls, load balancers, SD-WAN, and Zscaler to meet business needs.
- Manage and maintain DNS records, including advanced configurations like load balancing, failover, and CDN integrations.
- Ensure high availability and redundancy of network components, including ACI fabric, Nexus switches, and routing protocols.
- Implement and manage complex firewall rules, VPNs, ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Support Zscaler policy configuration and integration with other network security tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network changes with minimal disruption.
- Mentor Level 1 engineers by providing training, guidance, and support to improve team skill levels.
- Liaise with vendors for escalated support, product updates, and feature enablement.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for network infrastructure and processes.
- Generate reports on network performance, incident resolution, and system health for stakeholders.
- Participate in network architecture design discussions, providing insights and recommendations.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Lead small-scale projects involving network optimization, hardware refreshes, or policy implementations.
- Manage backup and restoration processes for firewalls, DNS servers, load balancers, and SD-WAN devices.
- Play a key role in disaster recovery planning and execution for rapid service restoration.
Qualifications Required:
- In-depth experience with Cisco Meraki, FortiGate, CheckPoint, or Cisco firewall.
- Strong expertise in Cisco ACI and Nexus series switches.
- Proficiency in SD-WAN technologies and Zscaler deployment.
- Advanced knowledge of load balancers like NetScaler and F5.
- Hands-on experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Familiarity with firewall management systems and SD-WAN controllers.
- Certifications such as CCNP, Fortinet NSE 5 or above, Zscaler ZCE, or equivalent preferred.
