Job Description
As a Network Outsourced Personal, your role will involve the following key responsibilities:
- Create new VLANs for segmentation
- Modify existing VLANs (rename, reassign ports)
- Delete unused VLANs
- Configure VLAN trunking between switches
- Perform initial setup (hostname, management IP, domain name)
- Configure access and trunk ports
- Apply port security measures such as MAC filtering and sticky MACs
- Enable/disable interfaces
- Configure EtherChannel (port aggregation)
- Backup and restore switch/router configurations
- Monitor logs and syslog servers
- Perform firmware/IOS upgrades
- Test connectivity through ping and traceroute
- Troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 issues
- Coordinate with Cisco for any device issues
- Maintain network diagrams and configuration records
- Document VLAN assignments and IP addressing
- Track changes with change management processes
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies
- Monitor ILL, WAN, and critical links, and initiate tickets upon fault detection
- Review VPN tunnel status (IPSec/SSL VPN) on Firewall
- Track allowed and denied traffic on the firewall
- Manage SSIDs (wireless network names)
- Configure SSID security (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, PSK)
- Map SSIDs to VLANs
- Register new APs to the controller
- Assign APs to specific groups or locations
- Configure AP modes (local, flex-connect, monitor, rogue detection)
- Monitor AP status (up/down, client load)
- Map SSIDs to VLAN interfaces
- Configure AAA integration (RADIUS/TACACS+)
- Apply ACLs for wireless traffic control
- Enable rogue AP detection and mitigation
- Backup and restore WLC configuration
- Perform firmware/software upgrades
- Verify HA/Redundancy status if applicable
- Verify APs are online and serving clients
- Check SSID availability and authentication success rates
- Manage devices using MAC address on Forescout
- Verify device discovery is up to date on Forescout
- Review compliance reports for endpoints on Forescout
