Mechanical Design Engineer - Precast Moulds

As a Mechanical Design Engineer Precast at Katkar Construction, you will play a crucial role in designing and detailing precast concrete moulds for a variety of infrastructure and residential projects. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing precast concrete moulds for infrastructure products like railway sleepers, pipes, drains, culverts, as well as residential and commercial precast elements such as walls, columns, beams, slabs, and staircases. - Preparing concept, GA, and detailed fabrication drawings while ensuring dimensional accuracy, surface finish, durability, and repeatability requirements are met. - Performing structural and mechanical calculations related to concrete pressure on moulds, stiffeners, plates, lifting points, and handling loads. - Coordinating with the fabrication shop to ensure correct execution of designs, providing fabrication-ready drawings, material specifications, welding details, and resolving shop-floor design issues. - Optimizing mould designs to reduce material consumption and fabrication costs without compromising quality, and supporting quality inspections and trial casting activities. - Working closely with production teams, project managers, and clients for installation, trial runs, and commissioning of precast moulds at plant sites, along with preparing technical documentation, BOMs, and as-built drawings. Qualifications Required: - Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. - 36 years of experience in precast mould design and fabrication. - Proven experience in infrastructure and residential precast concrete products. Technical Skills Needed: - Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory). - Experience with SolidWorks / Inventor / Creo (preferred). - Sound knowledge of precast concrete production processes, fabrication techniques, materials used in mould manufacturing, and ability to read and interpret structural drawings. Key Competencies: - Practical, fabrication-oriented design approach. - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Attention to detail and quality. - Good coordination and communication with shop-floor teams. - Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects. Preferred Experience Includes: - Experience in Railway concrete sleeper moulds or large infrastructure precast projects. - Exposure to precast plant setup or turnkey precast solutions. - Knowledge of lifting design and handling systems.
