Job Description

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at AECOM, you will be an integral part of the team working on an exciting data center project in Gurgaon, India. Your role will involve designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems critical to data center operations. Here's what you can expect in this role: Role Overview: You will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for data center infrastructure, including cooling, power distribution, and structural components. Your work will involve utilizing industry-standard CAD software to create innovative solutions that meet stringent performance, reliability, and efficiency standards. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop mechanical systems using CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA - Conduct thermal analysis and modeling to optimize cooling efficiency - Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and structural simulations to validate designs - Develop detailed technical drawings and documentation in accordance with industry standards - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with overall data center architecture - Analyze and resolve design challenges through systematic problem-solving - Ensure designs comply with data center standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements - Participate in design reviews and provide technical input for continuous improvement - Support project planning and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of design milestones - Maintain organized project documentation and communicate effectively with stakeholders Qualifications: - Proficiency in mechanical CAD software - Strong knowledge of HVAC systems design and thermal management - Experience with FEA and structural analysis tools - Understanding of data center infrastructure and mechanical systems - Ability to work effectively in project-based environments - Familiarity with data center design standards such as ASHRAE or TIA-942 (preferred) - Background in modular or scalable design solutions (preferred) - Experience with cost optimization and value engineering (preferred) - Familiarity with LEED or other sustainability certifications (preferred) - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines In addition to the above, AECOM offers comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of its employees.
