Job Description
As a Lead Application Engineer at Ansys, you will play a crucial role in driving technical engagements and creating complex engineering solutions for Aerospace & Defence (A&D) customers. Your deep technical background in A&D will enable you to provide high-quality technical support and solutions to customers, leveraging Ansys Digital Mission Engineering technology. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working independently within multi-disciplinary teams to significantly grow the business for a full portfolio of simulation products, particularly within the Aerospace and Defence sector.
- Demonstrating profound technical mastery and knowledge of engineering simulation techniques, specifically within aerospace domains, to provide the highest level of technical support to customers.
- Interacting regularly with aerospace customers to understand their solution needs, key business initiatives, and engineering design workflows, addressing their requirements for solutions during design and engineering stages.
- Leading complex customer engagements throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interacting with key customers to understand their technology needs, key business initiatives, and engineering design workflows.
- Gathering and documenting relevant metrics to demonstrate the impact of technical engagements and proposed solutions.
- Collaborating with product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities, guiding the product roadmap.
- Mentoring junior application engineers, fostering their technical growth and customer-facing skills.
- Supporting field and digital marketing efforts, including authoring conference presentations, technical papers, and webinars relevant to aerospace applications.
- Collaborating with other team members, sales, marketing, and product management/development to drive customer success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Required education and degree Type: Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Aerospace/ Astronautical/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Required years of professional experience: BS10, MS6, or PhD3
- Demonstrated use of Ansys DME software (STK, ODTK) and knowledge of multiphysics tools.
- Competency in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and familiarity with programming languages like Python, MATLAB, C#, Java.
- Experience with aerospace engineering practices, product development lifecycles, and building solutions using simulation technology.
- Track record of delivering exceptional customer outcomes and contributing to revenue impact in the A&D industry.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
Preferred Skills:
- In-depth knowledge and experience in Astrodynamics, Flight Dynamics, Radar Systems principles, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
- Proficiency in Multiphysics simulations relevant to aerospace applications.
- Experience in modelling and simulation of complex aerospace systems.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
