Role Overview: As a Backend Developer at Capgemini, your role involves developing and maintaining backend applications using Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript). You will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying serverless/microservices solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Your tasks will include implementing and optimizing services using Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Compute Engine, as well as integrating and managing GCP services such as Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Firestore, and BigQuery. Additionally, you will build and maintain RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL APIs following best practices and performance guidelines. Implementing CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or similar tools will also be part of your responsibilities. You will be expected to create scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures and write high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code with proper testing (unit/integration). Monitoring and troubleshooting applications using Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, and related tools will also fall under your purview. Working with Docker for containerizing microservices and deploying them on GCP, managing service authentication and access control using IAM, service accounts, and security best practices, participating in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies, and collaborating with product, QA, and DevOps teams for end-to-end feature delivery are essential aspects of your role. Lastly, optimizing cloud cost usage and application performance will be part of your responsibilities. Qualifications Required: - Strong proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript. - Hands-on experience with GCP Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and Firestore. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.). - Solid understanding of Microservices, REST/GraphQL, Docker & containerization, and API gateways (Apigee/Cloud Endpoints is a plus). - Bonus Skills include Kubernetes (GKE), BigQuery for analytics pipelines, Terraform or other IaC frameworks, and knowledge of message queues and event-driven architecture.
