Job Description
As a Gas Turbine - Combustion Heat Transfer Engineer at Siemens Energy, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and implementation of thermal components for gas turbine combustors. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and analyzing cooling systems for gas turbine combustor parts.
- Conducting thermal and flow modeling using network approach with pressure loss and heat transfer correlations. This involves understanding physics, applying relevant assumptions, interpreting results, and performing basic hand calculations in fluid mechanics and heat transfer discipline.
- Performing heat transfer and flow analysis using in-house and commercial tools such as Star CCM+ for 1D, 2D, 3D-CFD, and FEA tools like ANSYS.
- Applying boundary conditions to FE solver for material temperature calculations.
- Preparing effective PowerPoint presentations for meetings and detailed design reports for reviews.
- Being a point of contact for hot gas path heat transfer related topics in projects.
- Collaborating with project leads to find solutions to design challenges and deliver results within agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Mentoring and advancing the technical expertise of team members.
- Opportunity to publish technical reports in journals and conferences.
Qualifications Required:
- Mechanical engineer with an MTech in Mechanical engineering (major in Fluid & Thermal Science) and expertise in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in thermal analysis and design of gas turbine components.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations for analytical, flow network, correlation-based, and CFD & CHT tasks.
- Basic knowledge of Finite element analysis and familiarity with FE codes like ANSYS.
- Alignment with Organization Purpose, Values & behavior and adherence to business compliance guidelines.
- Ability to write clear and descriptive reports in English.
Desired qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of Combustion Aerodynamics, Strength of Materials, and manufacturing aspects for gas turbine combustor parts.
- Working knowledge of CAD software like NX (Uni-graphics).
- Exposure to SAP and Teamcenter PLM.
- Strong interpersonal skills, quick learner, energetic, imaginative, innovative, and ability to adapt quickly.
- Self-driven with a willingness to learn and try new problem-solving methods.
- Curiosity, perseverance, desire for engineering excellence, and patience.
- Effective communicator both verbal and non-verbal.
