Freelancer - Accessibility (A11y) Remediation Specialist

As a Freelance Accessibility (A11y) Remediation Specialist, your role will involve fixing accessibility issues directly in code for digital products. Your responsibilities will include the following: - Remediate accessibility issues in web applications in line with WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 - Implement fixes related to semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA roles/attributes - Improve keyboard navigation, focus management, forms, and error handling - Resolve screen reader compatibility issues - Apply color contrast and visual accessibility fixes where required - Collaborate with developers and QA teams to validate remediation changes - Re-test and confirm fixes using assistive technologies To qualify for this role, you should meet the following requirements: - Proven hands-on experience in accessibility remediation - Strong understanding of WCAG guidelines and ARIA implementation - Experience remediating issues in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React / Angular experience preferred) - Hands-on experience with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) - Familiarity with accessibility validation tools (axe, Lighthouse, WAVE, etc.) - Ability to work independently on a freelance/contract basis The company is looking for candidates who can engage in a freelance capacity, working remotely on a project-based/short-term/hourly basis.
