Job Description
As a Site Reliability Engineer at Trimble's Core Cloud Platform, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of the team's services and infrastructure. Working closely with a product delivery team, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform to ensure reliable and scalable cloud environments.
- Implementing and enhancing observability solutions using tools like New Relic, DataDog, Sumologic, and Splunk for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Performing code deployments and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Github, and related tooling to ensure smooth delivery processes.
- Automating routine tasks and workflows to increase operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Evaluating system designs and architectures for reliability, performance, security, and efficiency, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Leading incident response efforts, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing long-term solutions for complex issues.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive runbooks and procedures for incident response and operational tasks.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to review and provide feedback on technical designs, ensuring alignment with SRE principles.
- Participating in on-call rotations and handling critical incidents with confidence and expertise.
- Continuously improving documentation for systems and services, contributing to a knowledge-sharing culture within the team.
Qualifications required for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
- 7-10 years of relevant work experience automating and improving processes in a software development & production environment.
- Working knowledge of programming languages like Python, Go, Javascript, or similar.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in automation and workflow optimization for improved efficiency.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with team members.
- Willingness to receive both general and detailed instructions, with the ability to take on new challenges.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and timelines.
