Job Description
As an Environmental Coordinator at the Environmental Assessment & Community Engagement (EACE) group, your role involves providing technical and coordination support to environmental assessment, permitting, and community engagement projects across Canada. You will work closely with project teams, assisting in desktop research, data compilation and QA/QC, report preparation, stakeholder and regulatory tracking, and development of environmental graphics and GIS-based outputs. This position offers exposure to environmental assessment practice, regulatory processes, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist in project preparation and proposal support by clarifying scopes, breaking down tasks, and developing proposal content and appendices.
- Set up SharePoint and Teams project sites, organize documents, maintain version control, and create graphics, schedules, timelines, and workflow diagrams.
- Support stakeholder mapping, review regulatory pathways, and ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
- Conduct desktop research, compile and organize environmental datasets, track stakeholders, maintain engagement databases, and develop assessment tables and regulatory tracking tools.
- Prepare site visit reports, digitize field notes, support permit applications, and contribute to environmental management system documentation.
- Aid in preparing environmental base maps, compile data inputs for GIS teams, manage metadata and symbology templates, and assist with QA/QC and dashboard preparation.
- Draft baseline sections, methodology descriptions, appendices, format and proofread technical documents, consolidate reviewer feedback, and maintain report templates.
- Assist with file organization, archiving, lessons learned documentation, and provide technical and administrative support to senior environmental practitioners and project managers.
**Qualifications Required:**
- Post-secondary education in a relevant environmental discipline.
- Strong written communication skills with attention to detail, formatting, and quality control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong Excel skills are considered an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities across concurrent projects.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to follow established procedures and quality standards.
- Interest in environmental assessment, permitting, and community engagement in a Canadian regulatory context.
- Detail-oriented with a strong quality assurance mindset.
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical environmental skills.
- Professional communication and collaboration skills.
- Adaptability and ability to work across time zones and project teams.
- Commitment to technical integrity and continuous improvement.
**Preferred Technical/Software Skills:**
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro or equivalent).
- Experience in preparing environmental graphics, figures, and visual communication materials.
- Familiarity with environmental assessment or permitting processes in Canada.
- Experience with SharePoint, Teams, or other document management systems.
- Exposure to environmental data management, dashboards, or database tools.
