Job Description
As a Design Engineer (3D CAD) at CRA, a purpose-driven engineering firm specializing in custom-built systems for the Energy and Defence sectors, your role will involve developing detailed 3D models and layout drawings for process equipment, piping systems, and structural assemblies. You will work closely with engineers and fabricators to bring concepts to life, ensuring durability, reliability, and performance in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models of process equipment, piping skids, structural frames, and mechanical assemblies.
- Interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and engineering sketches to build accurate models.
- Produce GA drawings, isometric drawings, fabrication details, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Coordinate with project engineers, drafters, and the manufacturing team to ensure buildability.
- Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback efficiently, and follow engineering standards and drawing practices.
- Maintain a clean model structure with consistent layer management and part naming.
- Assist in design documentation, model version control, and change management.
- (Preferred) Create high-quality renders or animations of designs for marketing, client presentations, or internal documentation.
Qualifications Required:
- Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 36 years of experience in 3D CAD modeling, preferably in process equipment or industrial systems
- Hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus
- Experience creating photo-realistic renders is preferred
- Exposure to gas handling, skids, combustion, or pressure-based equipment is advantageous
- Understanding of standards such as ASME, API, ISO, and fabrication tolerances
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working on multiple projects with a proactive attitude
