Business Analyst - GIS Platform

As a GIS Business Analyst at SoftTech Engineers Limited, your role will involve the following key responsibilities: - Gather and Analyze Business Requirements: You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their business needs, pain points, and expectations. Your task will be to translate these requirements into clearly defined GIS-based requirements. - Conduct Stakeholder Workshops and Interviews: You will organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and interviews with end-users, domain experts, and technical teams to gather insights and requirements for GIS solutions. - Document Functional and Non-Functional Requirements: Preparing business requirement documents (BRD), functional requirement specifications (FRS), user stories, and acceptance criteria to ensure clarity and alignment between business and GIS teams will be part of your responsibilities. - Liaise Between Technical Teams and Business Users: You will function as a bridge between GIS developers, data analysts, and business users. Your task will be to ensure that the technical team understands the business context and vice versa. - Design GIS Workflows and Business Processes: Developing or optimizing spatial workflows that align with business processes will be within your scope. You will create process maps, use-case diagrams, and workflow charts using tools like Visio or Lucid chart. - Assist in GIS Solution Design: Collaborating with the GIS architect or technical team to ensure the solution design meets business objectives will be one of your responsibilities. You will also review UI mockups, database schema, and system architecture. - Supporting GIS Data Analysis and Reporting: You will help define the data model, identify data sources, validate spatial data quality, and develop reports, dashboards, or maps that provide actionable business insights. - Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Defining test cases based on requirements and coordinating UAT with stakeholders to ensure the final GIS application meets the agreed-upon specifications before deployment will be part of your role. - Support Change Management and User Training: Creating training materials, user manuals, and conducting training sessions to onboard users will be one of your responsibilities. You will also help manage the transition to the new GIS platform or updated system. - Monitor Project Progress and Ensure Deliverables: Tracking project milestones, timelines, and deliverables, as well as coordinating with project managers and development teams to ensure timely delivery and resolution of issues, will be part of your role. - Ensure Data Governance and Standards Compliance: Your responsibility will be to ensure that GIS solutions follow organizational standards, data governance policies, and regulatory requirements. You will also be maintaining metadata, naming conventions, and symbology standards. - Evaluate and Recommend GIS Tools and Technologies: Researching and evaluating GIS software, tools, and platforms that align with business needs and providing recommendations on upgrades, new tools, or integration options will be part of your responsibilities. - Conduct Market or Industry Research: Analyzing trends in geospatial technology, regulatory changes, or industry practices that could influence the business or GIS system usage will be one of your tasks. - Support Integration with Enterprise Systems: Assisting in integrating GIS with other systems like ERP, CRM, SCADA, or asset management platforms for a unified business solution will be within your scope.
