Big Data Engineer

Role Overview: As an ALEF Big Data Engineer at Alef Education, you will play a crucial role in defining and developing services and solutions around large data ingestion, storage, and management. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining and enhancing current systems, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and providing technical leadership to ensure high-quality code delivery. Your expertise in big data technologies and coding skills will be essential in architecting highly scalable, concurrent, and low latency systems. Key Responsibilities: - Define, design, and develop services and solutions for large data ingestion, storage, and management using RDBMS, No SQL DBs, Log Files, and Events. - Create and run robust data pipelines and batch jobs in a production environment. - Architect highly scalable, concurrent, and low latency systems. - Maintain, support, and enhance current systems while minimizing technical debt and improving code quality. - Mentor and train other developers, contribute to codebase quality, and build tools for robust and scalable software. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, participate in sprint planning, support integrations, and advise on best practices. Qualification Required: - Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in Big Data. - Proficiency in Functional Java or Scala. - Knowledge of Azure Big Data/Analytics services and experience with Hadoop technology ecosystem. - Familiarity with network protocols, continuous integration and delivery, mock testing, IDEs, build tools, and version control systems. - Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and adapt to new programming tools and techniques quickly. - Experience working with unix-like operating systems.
