Backend Systems Developer

You will be a Backend Engineer (Java) at VAHN Solutions, contributing to the next generation of trucking by developing and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs to ensure a seamless user experience. Your role will involve: - Developing and maintaining backend services using Java (Java 11 or above) and Spring Boot. - Designing and implementing RESTful APIs to support frontend and mobile applications. - Integrating and managing data in SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB. - Collaborating with frontend developers, designers, and product managers to ship new features. - Writing clean, maintainable, and testable code. - Participating in code reviews, daily stand-ups, and sprint planning. - Debugging and resolving performance and reliability issues in backend systems. - Learning and applying best practices in software engineering, testing, and documentation. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 24 years of hands-on experience in backend development using Java or similar languages. - Valuable understanding of Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and object-oriented design. - Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and basic data modeling. - Experience using Git, and basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines. - Exposure to containerization tools like Docker is a plus. - Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn. - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, on-site environment. Preferred / Nice-to-Have skills and qualifications include: - Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, or SQS. - Exposure to cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Understanding of microservices architecture and backend scalability. - Experience writing unit/integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks. - Experience with Generative AI, Prompt Engineering, and Agentic AI.
