Job Description
You will be serving as a team member of tooling at Visteon and providing guidance in your area of expertise, which includes sheet metal, die casting, and plastic. As a Tooling Engineer, you will act as the primary consultant to Product Development and suppliers for manufacturing feasibility, offering vision and solutions on Mechanics to achieve company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct New Project Design Review, Analysis, ECN & Modification
- Select stamping material and die casting
- Choose between Progressive Tool or Stage tools
- Develop layout concept designs
- Optimize concepts to reduce Stages
- Analyze failures during the trial phase and implement necessary changes in design/tool
- Verify and approve part 2D drawings & assembly instructions
- Participate in DFEMA, analyzing potential failures in the design phase, and making necessary improvements
- Execute and implement New Projects in the company
- Participate in tool trials at local/abroad factories and provide approvals for sourcing & Quality team reference
- Approve the mold/jigs/fixtures used in projects for development at the supplier end
- Conduct Tool validation and Tool buy-off activities
- Provide approval of the product through sign off with relevant stakeholders
- Engage in cost reduction activities
- Lead and approve Mechanical Design Reviews from a tooling perspective
- Support and approve mechanical risk assessments in projects
- Offer technical guidance to mechanical engineers, including mentoring and coaching
- Create or update guidelines
- Share Lessons Learned with the mechanical engineering community
- Support VAVE initiatives by providing ideas and assessing technical feasibility
- Drive innovations in the Mechanical domain and lead development of new technologies
- Provide Executive Leadership with technical solutions and vision
- Support tooling process based on selected material
Key Performance Indicators:
- Design issues post tool kick-off and product validation
- Adherence to Technical Tool Design Review process and timing
- BOM cost
- Sharing of Lessons Learned
Qualification, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or NTTF (preferred) in Mechanical/Tooling with relevant industry experience
- 12+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in a regional or global environment
- Experience in Automotive products development, particularly in Displays, Infotainment, Cockpit Electronic products, Electrification vehicles products
- Familiarity with TALC requirements of cockpit electronic products
- Proficiency in failure analysis tools and techniques is an added advantage
- Exposure to mechanical product development and testing domains
- Ability to direct and solve complex problems
- Proven supervisory and technical leadership, especially in identifying and resolving technical problems
- Ability to share knowledge and mentor and coach mechanical engineers
- Ability to communicate clearly depending on the audience
- Ability to provide innovative technical solutions as an original thinker
- Ability to use technical skills to make a significant impact on projects regarding cost, timing, quality
- Exposure to Global Culture/Customer is an added advantage
