Job Description
As a Technical Writer for hardware products and systems documentation, your role will involve understanding complex hardware architectures, embedded systems, and industrial equipment, and translating them into clear, structured, and user-friendly documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive hardware documentation including User Manuals, Installation Guides, Service & Maintenance Manuals, System Architecture Documents, Hardware Interface Specifications, and Compliance & Safety Documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Hardware, Firmware, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering teams to gather technical inputs.
- Understand product schematics, system diagrams, PCB layouts, and hardware architecture to accurately document system functionality.
- Create structured documentation aligned with product lifecycle stages (Design Validation Deployment Support).
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory, compliance, and safety standards where applicable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Manufacturing, QA, and Customer Support.
- Drive version control and document management best practices.
- Contribute to process improvement in documentation standards and templates.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8-13 years of experience in Technical Writing with exposure to hardware products.
- Strong understanding of Embedded Systems/Electronics/Electrical systems/Industrial automation or robotics (preferred)/Firmware-hardware interaction.
- Experience creating documentation for Physical products (not just SaaS/API documentation)/Industrial equipment/robotics/IoT devices.
- Ability to interpret Block diagrams, Schematics, Mechanical drawings, System architecture documents.
- Experience with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare/FrameMaker/Arbortext, DITA/Structured authoring, Visio/Lucidchart (for diagrams).
- Strong written communication skills with high attention to detail.
