Staff Frontend Engineer

As a Staff Software Engineer at Tekion, you will play a crucial role in positively disrupting the automotive industry with innovative solutions on the cloud-native automotive platform. With your expertise in frontend engineering, you will define the frontend architecture, build complex UI surfaces, and mentor other engineers to drive the best automotive retail experiences ever. Key Responsibilities: - Own and evolve the frontend architecture by defining Next.js App Router structure, component boundaries, state management strategy (Redux), and data-fetching patterns following hexagonal UI principles. - Design and build technically complex UI surfaces including real-time attribution dashboards, AI-powered campaign builders, Elasticsearch-backed customer search, and platform-embedded opportunity cards. - Define the component design system with an atomic component library, theming contracts, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), and Storybook-based documentation. - Establish frontend performance standards by setting Core Web Vitals targets, bundle size budgets, SSR/SSG strategy with Next.js, lazy loading, and virtualization for large data tables. - Lead Next.js architecture decisions, integrate AI-native frontend patterns, and drive code quality through design reviews, code reviews, and pair programming. - Mentor Senior and mid-level frontend engineers to raise the bar for component design, test coverage, and performance discipline. Collaborate closely with backend Staff Engineers and designers for seamless integration and implementation. Skills & Qualifications: - 8+ years of frontend engineering experience with expertise in React and Next.js in production systems. - Mastery of Next.js 14+ App Router, React Server Components, TypeScript, Redux, and frontend performance engineering. - Experience building data-intensive dashboards, integrating Elasticsearch-powered search UIs, and maintaining component design systems with accessibility standards. - Strong mentoring skills and experience in raising the technical bar across a frontend team. Good to Have: - Experience with streaming LLM/AI-generated content, platform-embedded micro-frontend patterns, and background in automotive retail or SaaS BI/reporting platforms. - Familiarity with Storybook for component documentation and visual regression testing.
