Job Description
You will be joining Synaptics, a leading company in AI at the Edge, revolutionizing how we interact with intelligent connected devices. As part of the WLAN protocol design team, you will have the opportunity to work on developing complex protocol features for WLAN, focusing on the upper and lower data link layer of the ICP/IP stack in communication engineering. Your role will involve designing and developing firmware for IEEE 802.11 standards data link layer, providing firmware support for pre-silicon and post-silicon design bring-up, analyzing and supporting bug fixes, as well as developing debug infrastructure. Collaboration with colleagues to optimize solutions will be a key aspect of your responsibilities.
**Responsibilities:**
- Design and develop firmware for IEEE 802.11 standards data link layer
- Provide firmware support for pre-silicon and post-silicon design bring-up
- Analyze and support bug fixes during final stages of the program across SW and RTL teams
- Develop debug infrastructure
- Work with colleagues to optimize solutions
**Competencies:**
- Deep understanding of Wi-Fi specification data link layer
- Hands-on experience in protocol development in IEEE 802.11ac/ax/be amendments
- Solid understanding of hardware and Wi-Fi sniffer tools, analysis of logs, and usage of embedded debuggers
- Strong debugging and analytical abilities
- Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Well-organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
- Positive attitude, unafraid to ask questions, explore new ideas
- Resourceful, able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong team player with the ability to work within a diverse team
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or related field or equivalent
- 8+ years experience in a relevant engineering role
- Proficient in C programming skills
- Good assembly language understanding
- Strong experience developing WLAN (IEEE 802.11) specification link layer
- Deep experience with system test, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of wireless products
- Hands-on experience with ASIC emulators and proficiency with Python scripting is highly desired
- No travel required
