Role Overview:
As a Senior Solution Designer/Architect in the Java & AWS domain within the Cards/Banking industry, your role is to provide technology leadership and solution architecture for large-scale transformations. You will be leveraging modern Java and AWS ecosystems to design client-facing solutions, define target state architectures, and mentor design teams. Your focus will be on application modernization and cloud adoption within the banking and cards domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and review Java-based application architectures following cloud-native principles and AWS best practices.
- Lead end-to-end solution architecture for enterprise banking and cards ecosystem, including new application builds, modernization, and platform transformation initiatives.
- Provide architectural leadership in microservices adoption, API strategy, event-driven design, and asynchronous processing.
- Drive architecture for interface development, encompassing internal and external system integrations, third-party services, and partner ecosystems.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to grasp business objectives, constraints, and regulatory needs, translating them into scalable and resilient technical solutions.
- Define and govern the to-be architecture, covering application layers, integration strategy, data flows, security, and deployment models.
- Mentor and manage junior solution designers and aspiring architects, ensuring quality, consistency, and architecture governance.
- Support delivery teams through design walkthroughs, solution reviews, and implementation alignment.
Qualifications Required:
- Strong architectural understanding of the enterprise Java stack, including Java (8+), Spring/Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
- Experience in designing solutions using modern architecture patterns such as microservices, domain-driven design, and event-driven architecture.
- Good exposure to messaging frameworks, ORMs, data access patterns, and API management/integration layers.
- Awareness of DevOps and CI/CD concepts as they relate to Java application build and deployment.
- Strong experience architecting solutions on AWS, including application hosting models, API Gateway, Lambda, ECS/EKS, and more.
- Ability to design secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud architectures for regulated financial systems.
- Domain experience in Cards (Issuing and/or Acquiring) or Lending, understanding banking transaction flows and regulatory considerations.
- Proven leadership skills with client-facing experience, ability to influence design decisions, and guide teams through architecture governance.
