Job Description
As a Software Engineering Manager in the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery sector, your role is crucial in advancing battery management systems (BMS) to ensure the safe and efficient operation of high-voltage energy storage systems. Your responsibilities and qualifications are multifaceted and encompass software development, system integration, and cross-functional collaboration.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Oversee the design, development, and integration of BMS software for advanced automotive battery packs from concept to full volume production
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to define software requirements meeting vehicle level functional objectives
- Manage software release timing to align with vehicle build and program schedules
- Coordinate software issue resolution across component pack and vehicle levels
- Develop system level Design Verification Plans and coordinate component level plans with Tier One suppliers
- Ensure scalability, security, and interoperability with energy management systems and BMS
- Execute design for manufacturing processes and coordinate assembly processes with manufacturing engineering
- Drive process development continuous improvement and team development activities
- Support BMS validation software development and troubleshooting
- Work closely with software validation, calibration, diagnostics, functional safety, and architecture teams
- Lead technical input for software coordination and requirements alignment meetings
- Develop data-driven models for state of charge, state of health degradation prediction, and anomaly detection
- Implement digital twin models for real-time battery performance simulation
- Enhance thermal management and energy efficiency through AI-driven insights
- Develop AI and machine learning algorithms for battery degradation forecasting and anomaly detection
- Utilize big data processing for large-scale fleet analytics in electric vehicles battery swapping and grid storage
- Enable fleet-wide battery lifecycle management for electric mobility operators
- Lead software engineers, data scientists, and battery researchers in product development
- Work with OEMs, fleet operators, and energy companies to integrate analytics solutions
- Drive partnerships with AI and cloud computing providers
- Coordinate high voltage battery system change management processes
- Develop safety concepts for high voltage battery systems ensuring compliance with functional safety standards
- Conduct hazard and risk analyses to identify safety issues and define mitigation strategies
- Establish safety verification and validation plans throughout the product development lifecycle
**Qualifications:**
- Extensive experience in technical software delivery and managing software teams in battery and automotive industries
- Expertise in Battery Management Systems, EV energy storage, artificial intelligence, and machine learning algorithms
- Strong understanding of battery chemistry degradation models and thermal dynamics
- Experience in leading technology teams, managing stakeholders, and developing scalable software solutions
- Proficient in MATLAB, C, C++, and Python programming
- Knowledge of battery safety and regulatory standards
- Experience with advanced automotive battery design and testing
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Exposure to battery enclosures designed to meet automotive-grade safety and environmental standards
- Familiarity with BMS, EMI/EMC considerations, and HV component layout
