Job Description
As a software engineering manager at Canonical, you will lead an engineering team working on optimizing Ubuntu for the latest hardware platforms. You will work across the full Linux stack from kernel to GUI, engaging with commercial partners to deliver a delightful Ubuntu experience. Your primary responsibility will be the growth and well-being of your team members, ensuring they are growing as engineers and delivering valuable work.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead a team of distributed engineers to design and implement the best Ubuntu integration for IoT and server-class hardware platforms
- Engage with commercial partners to optimize the Ubuntu experience on their platforms
- Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and feedback
- Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on project milestones
- Maintain strict quality and reliability standards
- Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to align on product architecture and roadmaps
**Qualifications Required:**
- Experience with Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware
- Direct customer interaction experience, resolving technical issues and understanding business challenges
- Demonstrated experience managing or leading software engineering teams
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
- Effective collaboration skills across internal teams
- Proficient in written and oral English communication
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology field
