Job Description
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Steel at Nextracker, based in Hyderabad, India, you will report to the Steel Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Your role involves developing and managing the local supply chain, which is becoming increasingly strategic. You will be responsible for driving industrialization, ramp-up, and continuous improvement of steel processes and supplier networks. Your duties also include deploying category/region/supplier-specific strategies and establishing strategic relationships with core suppliers. Additionally, you will ensure the correct execution of activities related to defining, developing, and launching new or improved products or suppliers.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead technical qualification efforts to support product launches, balancing quality, customer satisfaction, cost, and sustainability.
- Coordinate with various departments and vendors to formulate and review task plans and deliverables, ensuring conformance with program schedules and costs.
- Identify and analyze problems, implement improvements with recognized business benefits.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives for assigned suppliers.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Host project meetings, deliver status updates, and actively participate in business development opportunities.
- Act as an internal customer voice and advocate for the customer within Nextracker.
- Visit suppliers frequently to track execution performance.
**Qualifications Required:**
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 8-10 years of experience in heavy steel fabrication with ownership of equipment installation and volume ramp-up.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment and with India steel manufacturers and processes.
- Experience in CM or OEM manufacturing, including process development, DFM, tooling readiness, and product launches.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
- Availability to travel regularly.
