Job Description
As a Senior Data Engineer at Microsoft Devices Operations (MDO), you will play a crucial role in building scalable data models and pipelines to extract, load, and transform data on Azure. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines and systems to ensure data quality and availability.
- Supporting data analytics, AI, and ML initiatives by designing and developing datasets for an AI-ready data platform.
- Providing technical leadership by mentoring engineers and leading solution implementation in alignment with business and data requirements.
- Implementing CI/CD pipelines for data engineering projects using tools like Azure DevOps.
- Anticipating data governance needs, designing modeling and handling procedures, and ensuring compliance with laws and policies governing data accessibility.
- Leading the design and maintenance of enterprise ontologies and semantic models to support AI and knowledge graph initiatives.
Qualifications required for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- OR equivalent experience
- Experience building cloud-based data pipelines and data stores
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala or Java
- Strong experience with SQL, database technologies, and familiarity with big data technologies
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata standards, and data visualization tools
- Experience working with and integrating AI/Co-Pilot applications
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, coaching, mentoring, and empowering junior team members
