Job Description

Role Overview: As a Senior Associate - Index Input Data (IID) at MSCI's Index Data Operations team in Mumbai, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of index input data supporting a wide range of products including Equity Indexes, Risk Models, and ESG Ratings. Your deep domain expertise, strong analytical skills, and hands-on approach will be instrumental in collaborating with global partners to enhance data quality, drive automation initiatives, and continuously improve processes. While not a people manager, you will have significant ownership, influence, and subject-matter responsibility within the team. Key Responsibilities: - Oversee end-to-end processes for acquiring, validating, onboarding, and maintaining index input data, including ESG fundamental data and third-party vendor datasets. - Ensure timely and accurate delivery of index input data for rebalancing, screening, and index calculation. - Define and implement robust data quality frameworks, including anomaly detection, risk scoring, and proactive controls. - Drive automation, workflow optimization, and adoption of advanced technologies such as Python, SQL, Power BI, and AI/ML solutions. - Utilize approved AI tools for anomaly detection, monitoring efficiency, and identifying automation opportunities. - Champion the use of the Risk Scorecard framework for dataset evaluation, regulatory compliance, and adherence to index methodology standards. - Lead incident management, post-mortem reviews, and ensure learnings are integrated into future processes. - Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate new datasets, integrate proprietary data sources, and provide insights based on data quality analysis. Qualification Required: - Education: Masters degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline. Professional certifications like CFA, FRM, or MBA are a plus. - Experience: Minimum 8 years in financial services, capital markets, or data operations with expertise in equity data management or index operations. - Proficiency in Excel, programming languages (Python, SQL), and data technologies for automation and visualization. - Strong understanding of global equity markets, corporate actions, float methodologies, and ESG factors. - Demonstrated success in leading transformation programs, automation initiatives, or new data product development. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders. - Comfortable working in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment with global time zone flexibility.
