Job Description

As an applications engineer at AMD, you will play a crucial role in the growing Embedded Business Unit by working on cutting-edge technology. Your responsibilities will include scoping, hands-on debugging, and resolving customer issues across different market segments and products. You will collaborate closely with software development teams to understand software design, architecture, and implementation, enabling customers to integrate the software into their innovative products. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of critical customer features, create application notes, and provide technical training for AMD field and customer teams. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing and optimizing performance, as well as in developing software and Proof of Concepts. **Roles & Responsibilities:** - Storage solutions development, platform tuning, optimization, and competitive benchmarking - Hands-on coding/debugging to resolve customer issues and enable storage customer use-cases - Ensure maximum platform/silicon entitlement in customer products through power and performance optimization - Author application notes and deliver training sessions for field teams, customers, and partners - Assist in bringing up customer boards with Linux kernel and device drivers for reference boards **Requirements:** - Engineering degree in CS/EE with 15+ years of relevant experience - Proficiency in storage technologies, frameworks, and libraries such as RAID, Software Defined Storage, iSCSI SPDK, CEPH, ZFS, etc. - Familiarity with storage benchmarking tools like FIO, IOMeter, SPEC-SFS - Strong background in system design, architecture of storage products, and performance analysis - Experience in embedded software development in Linux, including user and kernel mode device drivers, bootloaders, kernel configuration, power, and performance management - Knowledge of high-speed IO driver development and debugging (PCIe, USB, SATA, NVMe) and other IO protocols (I2C, SPI) - Proficient in open-source management, patch generation, Linux kernels, distros, runtime, and build infrastructure - Hands-on experience in embedded software debugging techniques from both hardware and software/OS perspectives - Understanding of CPU system architecture and HW platforms based on x86 processors - Experience in a customer-facing role like application engineering is a plus - Excellent written and verbal communication skills Please note that AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
