Principal Software Architect

As a Principal Architect at Morningstar Retirement, you will play a crucial role in shaping the architectural direction of the Fiduciary Services business. Your expertise will be instrumental in tackling complex challenges, guiding system design, and translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions to support the company's AI ambitions effectively. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing resilient, flexible, and secure architectures to support growth and maintain reliability for Fiduciary platforms. - Modernizing legacy systems and establishing foundations for AI-enabled products. - Ensuring cloud-based platforms operate with stability, performance, and operational efficiency. Qualifications: - Possess 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture or large-scale system design. - Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership. - Expertise in infrastructure, application architecture, platforms, and data systems. - Hands-on experience with AWS ecosystems and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code. - Proficiency in Java, Python, and Vue for development. - Experience in implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation and AI infrastructure setup. In this role, you will: - Design and evolve scalable, cloud-native architectures to support asset growth and new plan onboarding. - Lead modernization efforts, including database alignment and system refactoring. - Influence architecture decisions across multiple engineering teams and drive alignment on platform strategy. - Translate business strategy into measurable technical roadmaps. Additionally, you will: - Establish architecture standards and governance models. - Anticipate future scale and risk challenges and embed performance, security, and compliance in design decisions. - Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations leaders to drive clarity and alignment. - Serve as a technical thought leader by providing architectural guidance and enabling content through internal workshops.
