Major Roles and Responsibilities

Sample Collection and Preparation
Collect blood, urine, tissue, and other bodily fluid samples.
Label, preserve, and prepare specimens for testing.

Conduct Laboratory Tests
Perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests (e.g., hematology, chemistry, microbiology).
Use automated and manual equipment to analyze samples.

Operate and Maintain Laboratory Equipment
Calibrate, clean, and troubleshoot lab instruments.
Ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely.

Record and Analyze Data
Record test results accurately.
Interpret and verify test outcomes for reporting to physicians.

Quality Control and Assurance
Follow strict protocols to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.

Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed logs and patient records.
Report abnormal findings to medical staff promptly.

Infection Control and Safety
Follow safety guidelines for handling biological specimens and hazardous materials.
Comply with infection control protocols and lab hygiene standards.

Compliance and Regulation
Adhere to regulations from agencies like CLIA, OSHA, and CAP.
Keep up with standard operating procedures and ethical standards.

Collaborate with Healthcare Teams
Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other lab personnel.
Provide support during medical procedures or emergencies when needed.

Continuous Learning
Attend trainings, workshops, and certifications to stay updated with new testing technologies and lab practices.
