Manager, Software Development Engineering (Java Manager)

As a Manager, Software Development Engineering at Fiserv, you will play a crucial role in driving the development of new initiatives, particularly in launching real-time payment capabilities and modernizing platforms via the Cloud. Your responsibilities will involve overseeing technical delivery, ensuring team health, and driving strategic growth for this critical program. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and inspire a team of 10 to 20 engineers, managing tasks such as hiring, performance management, mentoring, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. - Act as an execution leader to ensure the team meets roadmap milestones with high-quality, maintainable code. - Provide technical guidance by overseeing the design of microservices and real-time APIs, focusing on resilient and scalable architecture. - Collaborate strategically with Product and Stakeholders to balance new feature delivery with technical debt and platform stability. - Build an engineering-first culture centered around automation, security-by-design, and proactive production monitoring. Qualifications Required: - Leadership Experience: 12+ years in progressive technology roles, including at least 3+ years spent building and leading high-performing engineering teams. - Management Mindset: Proven ability to manage large-scale teams (10+) and navigate complexities within a large-scale organization. - Technical Foundation: Strong knowledge in the Modern Java Ecosystem (Spring Boot/Security) and Database management (RDBMS/NoSQL). - Cloud & Architecture: Experience overseeing applications deployed via Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) on Cloud platforms like Google, AWS. - Process Expertise: Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies and a deep understanding of DevOps/CI-CD pipelines. - Communication Skills: Ability to articulate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and advocate for team needs.
