Job Description
As the Head Maintenance reporting to the Plant Head in the Maintenance & Utilities department, your role involves leading and managing all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted plant operations. You will oversee various areas such as high-voltage power distribution, production equipment maintenance, fuel systems, water and sewage treatment plants, and overall utility reticulation. Your strong background in Electrical / Mechatronics engineering will be essential to focus on safety, uptime, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Review and implement countermeasures for equipment breakdowns on a daily basis.
- Conduct uptime analysis using MTTR and MTBF metrics for improving equipment reliability.
- Monitor and review the planned maintenance system to ensure effective execution.
- Provide maintenance support during emergencies, holidays, Sundays, and after office hours as required.
In terms of Safety, Quality & Compliance, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and addressing safety-related issues daily through corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensuring adherence to all legal, statutory, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Promoting and enforcing health, safety, and environmental standards within the department.
- Addressing unsafe conditions and non-compliance issues promptly.
Your duties will also involve Documentation & Systems management, including:
- Daily review and upkeep of maintenance documentation like Breakdown logs, TPM records, and Preventive maintenance schedules.
- Compliance with quality and management systems such as IATF / TS standards, ISO 14001, and OHSAS / ISO 45001.
- Leading SAP implementation and ensuring discipline in system usage.
Additionally, you will be expected to focus on Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization by:
- Driving Kaizen, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality circles within the maintenance team.
- Encouraging suggestions and improvement ideas from technicians.
- Implementing and sustaining 5S across maintenance and utility areas.
- Managing spare parts inventory and driving cost reduction initiatives.
You will also be involved in Projects & Coordination by:
- Supporting new projects and plant expansions through coordination with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Managing and following up with subcontractors for maintenance-related activities.
People Management & Reporting responsibilities include:
- Developing subordinates through structured training and skill enhancement programs.
- Monitoring departmental KPIs and ensuring performance targets are met.
- Preparing and presenting monthly maintenance reports to plant leadership.
As part of your additional responsibilities, you may be required to perform any other duties assigned by the reporting manager or management from time to time.
Your work conduct should focus on Health, Safety, Quality, Cost & Environment by ensuring all activities are carried out safely, responsibly, and in compliance with established policies and procedures. Additionally, contribute to maintaining product quality, cost efficiency, and environmental responsibility while following corporate guidelines related to safety, data access, cost commitments, and workplace conduct.
