Linux Engineer

As a DevOps Engineer in this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance automation and tooling for the Linux environment using Python and Go. Your tasks will include creating efficient scripts and applications to enhance operational workflows, advocating for best practices in system design with a focus on microservice architecture and distributed systems, and ensuring infrastructure adaptability and resilience to change. Additionally, you will develop and maintain observability practices such as logging, metrics, and tracing to guarantee system reliability and performance. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain automation and tooling for the Linux environment using Python and Go - Create efficient scripts and applications to enhance operational workflows - Advocate for best practices in system design with a focus on microservice architecture and distributed systems - Develop and maintain observability practices including logging, metrics, and tracing - Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools like Puppet to manage and automate Red Hat and Debian Linux environments - Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Linux infrastructure and core services - Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, provide mentorship to junior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and ensure coding standards are met Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's/master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 5 to 8 years of software development experience - Excellent understanding of Linux internals and familiarity with core technologies such as LDAP, DNS, Kerberos, TLS, and load balancers - Experience in designing and maintaining highly available distributed systems - Proficiency in one or more scripting languages like Python or Go for developing performant applications - Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK - Knowledge of configuration management and continuous tools such as Puppet and GitHub actions - Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically - Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups In addition, the company encourages candidates with relevant experience looking to restart their careers after a break to apply for this position.
