Lead Application Engineer II

In your role overview, you will be a Presales Technical Lead at Johnson Controls Digital Solutions with a focus on building technologies, including BMS, VMS, and Access Control. You will play a crucial role in helping customers make technology decisions, implementing best practices for asset management, and transforming buildings into smart connected entities. Your responsibilities will include developing pre-sales strategies, reviewing opportunity inputs, driving RFP/RFI responses, collaborating with cross-functional teams, designing tailored solutions, conducting requirement workshops, and providing technical leadership. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement pre-sales strategies aligned with the organizations business goals & targets. - Review opportunity inputs, requirements, and specifications to capture the Digital Solution scope and understand customer requirements. - Drive RFP/RFI responses, prepare technical solution writeups, compliance matrices, BoQs, hardware sizing calculations, and architecture diagrams. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective Solution development. - Translate customer pain points into solution architectures, integrating PLC/SCADA systems and BMS Platforms with analytics platform and enterprise FM platforms. - Design and present tailored solutions demonstrating the value and benefits of digital products and services. - Lead and mentor design teams during solution shaping, guiding them on OT and IOT protocols, data ingestion, and middleware integration. - Prepare for technical queries meetings with JC Branch sales team and lead cross-functional teams towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems. - Develop technical proposals, cost estimates, and provide competitive advantage to JCI. - Provide technical leadership to coordinate, prioritize, and deliver proposals and commercials in the pre-sales process. - Articulate goals, desired outcomes, risks/issues, and mitigation plans clearly in the pre-sales process. - Qualify out-of-the-box solutions and possible customizations needed. - Provide feedback to product management and development teams regarding customer needs and market demands. Qualifications Required: - 8-10+ years experience as a Presales engineer delivering proposals in the overall Bid process. - Expertise in Solutioning, designing, and delivering building technology Solutions (e.g., BMS, Security, Fire, and Lighting). - Hands-on experience in SCADA Platforms and PLC programming is preferred. - Experience in IoT Gateway configuration and Device Onboarding to cloud is a must. - Knowledge of OT/IT network protocols like BACnet, Modbus, OPC, MQTT, SNMP, AMQP, and other protocols. - Knowledge of HVAC or Industrial Process Control systems, IT-OT Integrations, API integrations. - Knowledge of L2 and L3 Networking, Servers, Virtualization concepts, and Clustering. - Knowledge of cloud IoT platforms and services (MS Azure is preferred). - Familiarity with Energy Management, Cloud-based Analytics tools, Digital Twin, Digital asset management, and BRICK schema concepts. - Strong technical aptitude, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-oriented mindset. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, stay updated on industry trends, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
