Job Description
JD Lab Head
Operational Management: Typically responsible for the overall strategic direction and
management of multiple laboratories, overseeing day-to-day operations, resource allocation,
and budgeting.
Quality Control: Sets the overall quality standards for the entire network of laboratories and
ensures adherence to these standards.
Staff Supervision: Oversees the performance and development of multiple laboratory
managers and may have direct supervisory responsibilities for senior staff across all
laboratories.
Technical Expertise: Typically possesses a higher level of technical expertise and knowledge of
laboratory operations, often with a doctoral degree or equivalent experience.
Regulatory compliance: Develop, implement, and monitor SOPs to ensure ISO 17025:2017
compliance within the jewelry lab. Regularly review lab processes for ongoing regulatory
adherence.
Data management: Ensure accurate, impartial, and confidential grading data. Maintain
detailed records of lab activities, including deviations and updates. Ensure documents meet
approval requirements.
Collaboration: working with other departments and external partners to support research,
education, and outreach initiatives.
Research and development: Engaging in ongoing research to stay updated on industry trends
and advancements in gemology.
This role requires a strong background in gemology specially in loose stones (Color && clarity),
and excellent organizational and communication skills.
A degree in gemology or a related field, along with relevant certifications, would be beneficial.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information
clearly.
