Job Description
As a Kubernetes Administrator / Azure DevOps Engineer, your role will involve managing Kubernetes workloads, maintaining DevOps tooling, implementing secure CI/CD pipelines, performing cluster upgrades and patching, and ensuring high availability of applications deployed across Azure services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and administer AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) clusters, including node pools, pod scheduling, networking, security, and performance tuning.
- Implement and manage deployment strategies such as rolling updates, canary deployments, and blue-green deployments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot AKS workloads, including pod failures, scheduling issues, and cluster-level alerts.
- Manage cluster patching, Kubernetes version upgrades, and cloud resource optimization.
- Work with Container Registries (ACR) for image builds, storage, retention policies, and secure access.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Define code build strategies, including multi-stage Docker builds and artifact management.
- Integrate SAST/SCA tools such as SonarQube, GitHub Advanced Security, or equivalent.
- Manage and configure Self-Hosted Agents for build and deployment tasks.
- Troubleshoot build and release pipeline failures, agent issues, and deployment errors.
- Deploy applications to Azure Web Apps, Function Apps, App Service Plans, and IIS (Windows-based services).
- Manage release workflows, environment approvals, and Azure DevOps deployment gates.
- Implement best practices for secure and scalable deployments across cloud environments.
- Implement and maintain monitoring for AKS using Azure Monitor, Prometheus/Grafana, or equivalent.
- Configure alerts, dashboards, and log analysis for cluster health and application performance.
- Troubleshoot issues related to Load Balancers, Ingress controllers, networking, and service routing.
- Perform day-to-day operational tasks involving incident management, troubleshooting, and RCA for AKS and Azure DevOps.
- Manage DevOps documentation, processes, and project coordination within the DevOps organization.
- Ensure compliance with security and governance policies for CI/CD, container security, and cloud resources.
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes / AKS administration.
- Proficiency in Azure DevOps tools: Pipelines, Repos, Artifacts, Boards, and self-hosted agents.
- Solid understanding of Docker, image building, and ACR.
- Experience deploying applications to AKS, Azure Web Apps, Azure Function Apps, and IIS Web Servers.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Experience with SAST/SCA tools like SonarQube, GitHub Actions, or equivalent.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for pod failures, load balancer issues, build & release errors, and cluster version/patch issues.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Good understanding of YAML, Helm, Terraform, or ARM/Bicep (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, or CKA/CKAD.
- Experience with NGINX Ingress, Istio, or service mesh.
- Knowledge of container security and Vault/Key Vault integrations.
