ICU Staff Nurse Required in Spain

Major Roles & Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Monitoring
Perform continuous and comprehensive assessment of critically ill patients.
Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic status, neurological status, and overall patient condition.
Recognize early signs of deterioration and intervene appropriately.

Ventilator & Airway Management
Operate and monitor ventilators and advanced respiratory support equipment.
Assist with intubation, estuation, and airway maintenance.
Adjust ventilator settings as per physician orders and patient tolerance.

Medication Administration
Safely administer IV medications, infusions, vasoactive drugs, sedation, and analgesics.
Manage continuous drips and titrate medications according to protocols.
Monitor for side effects, drug interactions, and therapeutic effectiveness.

Critical Interventions & Emergency Response
Respond promptly to code situations (Code Blue, Rapid Response).
Perform CPR, assist with ACLS protocols, and support emergency procedures.
Assist with insertion of central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, etc.

Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient charts/EHR.
Update care plans and record assessments, interventions, and progress.
Communicate changes in patient condition to the medical team.

Coordination of Care
Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and update families on patient status.
Coordinate patient transfers within or outside the ICU.

Infection Control & Safety
Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies (hand hygiene, PPE, isolation protocols).
Ensure safe environment by following ICU safety standards and equipment protocols.
Perform sterile techniques during invasive procedures.

Patient & Family Support
Provide emotional and educational support to patients and families.
Explain procedures, treatment plans, and expected outcomes.
Advocate for patient rights and comfort.

Equipment Management
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot ICU equipment (monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, dialysis machines).
Ensure equipment is functioning, calibrated, and ready for emergency use.
Report and document equipment malfunctions.

Care Planning & Implementation
Develop individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs.
Implement evidence-based interventions to promote recovery.
Evaluate the effectiveness of care and modify plans as needed.

Post-operative & Trauma Care
Manage surgical, trauma, cardiac, and medical ICU patients.
Provide immediate post-operative stabilization and monitoring.
Recognize potential complications and respond promptly.

Professional Development
Participate in continuing education, training, and skills upgrades.
Follow hospital policies, nursing standards, and ethical guidelines.
Mentor junior nurses and nursing students when required.
