Job Description
As a Front-end (UI) Lead Engineer, your role involves leading the development and implementation of responsive front-end UI architecture for micro frontends. You will work closely with the team to ensure high performance, scalability, and maintainability. Your responsibilities include modeling modern software engineering practices, collaborating with architects, and mentoring UI developers. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a robust UI architecture using NextJS / React JS, staying updated with the latest UI development trends, and ensuring high-quality code delivery with over 80% coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of responsive front-end UI architecture for micro frontends, focusing on high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Model modern software engineering practices, API design, and architecture to support integration with existing software products and cloud-based services.
- Collaborate with Architects to rationalize design and translate requirements for implementation.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to ensure alignment with user needs and product vision.
- Develop and maintain a scalable UI architecture using NextJS / React JS.
- Mentor UI developers, provide technical guidance, and ensure best practices are followed.
- Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and documentation to communicate design ideas.
- Test and debug UI issues across different browsers and devices, and stay updated with the latest UI development trends.
- Contribute to the overall development and delivery of eCommerce modules, ensuring high-quality front-end components.
- Bring expertise in commerce platform engineering to enhance capabilities and support growth.
- Contribute to Ford's Product Driven Organization model by identifying improvements and reducing dependencies.
- Design and implement scalable front-end solutions following MACH architecture principles.
- Ensure quality deliverables with proficiency in testing and strong JS skills.
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience in React or similar stack.
- Experience with Next.js, micro frontends, server-side rendering, client-side rendering, and static site generation.
- Proficiency in unit, integration, acceptance, and contract testing using tools like Jest, Playwright, Pact, and Rest Assured.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and React workflows like Flux or Redux.
- Familiarity with data structures, performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and SEO principles.
- Experience with modern web development tools like ES6/Babel, Node.js, NPM, Yarn, and Webpack.
- Understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, and pre-processors like SMACSS and BEM.
- Knowledge of working within a monorepo environment and collaboration with technical domain experts.
- Awareness of headless architecture and security aspects of frontend components.
- Prior experience in eCommerce or customer-facing platform development is desirable.
