Job Description

As a Linux Integration Engineer at Canonical, you will work across the full Linux stack from kernel through GUI to optimize Ubuntu, the world's most widely used Linux desktop and server, for the latest silicon. The role is fast-paced, problem-solving, challenging, and exciting. Your key responsibilities will include: - Designing and implementing the best Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks - Collaborating with partners to deliver a delightful, optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms - Taking a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience on partner platforms with inputs on technical plans, testing strategy, and quality metrics - Participating as a technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge - Assisting customers in integrating their apps, SDKs, building device OS images, and optimizing applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server - Working with the most advanced operating systems and application technologies available in the enterprise world In addition, you will be working with bright minds from all over the world at Canonical, partnering on exciting IoT and server platforms and technologies. You will need to meet the following qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar - Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto) - Experience working with open source communities and licenses - Proficiency in C and C++ - Ability to work in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation Additional skills that would be beneficial for the role include experience with graphics stacks, a good understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST), basic understanding of security best practices in IoT or server environments, good communication skills (including public speaking experience), IoT/embedded experience, and some experience with Docker/OCI containers/K8s.
