Job Description
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for developing and managing the credit underwriting framework, overseeing credit risk identification and mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and leading a high-performing risk management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage credit underwriting framework aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements
- Actively oversee credit risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies
- Keep policies and frameworks updated to control a broad spectrum of risks
- Monitor emerging credit risks and recommend proactive measures
- Develop a deep understanding of business partners' credit underwriting parameters and policies
- Manage risk for retail and wholesale portfolio
- Work with risk, compliance, and business teams to drive high-quality origination
- Ensure effective portfolio monitoring, stress testing, and credit loss forecasting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver credit faster without compromising on quality
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting guidelines and improve compliance culture
- Leverage data analytics and machine learning tools for enhanced risk control
- Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management and the board
- Lead and mentor a high-performing risk management team, aligning risk strategies with business goals
Qualifications Required:
- Graduate / Postgraduate / Professional qualification (e.g., MBA, CA, FRM) highly desirable
- Minimum 7-10 years of work experience in the financial services sector
- Experience in credit and underwriting in Financial Institutions group
- Good understanding of informal sector enterprises and credit underwriting of data thin customers
- Knowledge of retail & wholesale lending and related processes
- Understanding of RBI Guidelines related to lending, credit, compliance, and NBFC's
- Prior experience in underwriting retail loans of various asset classes
- Knowledge of Business Correspondent / Co-lending business will be an added advantage
- Basic understanding of financial reports of financial institutions
