Job Description
Role Overview:
As the AVP, Information Security at Synchrony's Joint Security Operations Center (JSOC), your primary responsibility is to lead the cyber detection of information security alerts and investigate/report major information security incidents across all business units. This role involves a combination of technical expertise and people leadership, focusing on the operation of the detection and response program. You will be expected to have a strong understanding of both traditional on-premise security and cloud management plane security. Additionally, as a people leader, you will oversee day-to-day shift operations, mentor junior analysts, and track their technical competency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with IT, Legal, Human Resources, and other business units to gather incident details, assess impact, and coordinate response.
- Respond to security incidents, mitigate impacts, coordinate remediation efforts, and make recommendations for improvements to senior management.
- Provide technical leadership for proactive detection of security threats and recommendations for enhancing overall security posture.
- Collaborate with the Cyber Intelligence team to develop threat detection logic and counter emerging cybersecurity threats.
- Enhance Detection and Incident Response processes and procedures, document findings, and create detailed reports.
- Prioritize mitigation efforts based on business priorities and recommend process improvements.
- Supervise formal incident response tasks and ensure successful execution of incident response plans.
- Identify and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors degree and a minimum of 8 years of cyber security and incident response experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience managing SOC teams in the past.
- Strong understanding of teamwork dynamics in a SOC environment.
