Job Description
As an Assistant Manager - Data Center Operations, your role will involve acting as the primary contact for DC operations and ensuring timely and effective communication with internal teams, management, vendors, OEMs, and ISPs via email, phone, and chat during incidents and planned activities. You will be responsible for ensuring 24x7 availability and smooth operation of data center infrastructure including compute, storage, network, power, and cooling, while meeting defined SLAs and uptime targets. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing Sev-1 / Sev-2 incidents, driving RCA, overseeing change and maintenance activities, and ensuring proper ITSM documentation and sharing with stakeholders.
- Managing DC engineers and 24 x 7 shift operations, allocating rosters and on-call duties, providing training and KT, and driving performance, ownership, and skill development.
- Planning and monitoring capacity for IT and facility infrastructure, supporting expansions, migrations, refresh activities, and maintaining accurate asset and inventory records.
- Coordinating with vendors and service providers for support, escalations, SLA adherence, AMC management, and service performance reviews.
- Ensuring adherence to ISO 27001 and internal policies, managing access controls and physical security, supporting audits, and maintaining SOPs and operational documentation.
- Driving standardization, operational excellence, and automation initiatives to improve response time, efficiency, and overall service quality.
- Preparing and presenting operational reports, incident summaries, availability metrics, risks, and improvement plans to senior management.
Additionally, you should have expertise on OS level troubleshooting for Linux, Windows, and Solaris systems, dealing with virtualization environments such as Vmware, Proxmos, and Hyper-V, managing SAN/NAS storage setups, Data center networking, Fortinet firewall operations including SDWAN, IPS, countering DOS attacks, Radware WAF, and Barracuda Load balancer related operations, as well as experience in dealing with L2/L3 switches, VLAN configurations, and troubleshooting network issues.
The educational requirement for this role is BE in Electronics and Communication or Information Technology, preferably with an MBA and ITIL certification.
