Role Overview:
DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects in the United States. As a member of the Controlling team at the India office in Hyderabad, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing tax compliance for renewable projects across multiple U.S. states and corporate entities. You will collaborate with diverse teams and external parties to support tax strategy, compliance, and finance management within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage tax compliance for existing and new renewable projects across multiple U.S. states and related corporate entities
- Collaborate cross-functionally to formulate, analyze, monitor, and implement tax strategy, compliance, and finance management for direct and indirect taxes
- Support tax team in tax modeling, accounting, management, and investor reporting including partnership accounting, HLBV modeling, yield tracking, and budget versus actual analysis
- Liaise with U.S. and Hyderabad-based team members, asset managers, treasury, tax teams, external consultants, and tax authorities on tax-related matters
- Compute state tax liabilities, make payments to state tax authorities, and respond to tax notices
- Participate in initiatives related to establishing, standardizing, optimizing, and documenting tax processes, workflows, and controls
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 0 - 24 months of experience
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to take initiative with limited direction
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to work independently with limited guidance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in U.S. taxation
